The Labor of Prayer

“I will not labor the point. You will see from what I am saying that I am not asking you just to give ‘help’ in prayer as a sort of sideline, but I am trying to roll the main responsibility of this prayer warfare on you. I want you to take the burden of these people upon your shoulders. I want you to wrestle with God for them.”
James O. Fraser, missionary to the Lisu people in China.

James Fraser was a missionary to the Lisu people of China and he was also a man of great prayer and a man who gave the vision for people to be great in prayer as well.  I was inspired by his story and from that I am recruiting people to pray for us.  (For those of you on our prayer letter list you should receive an email within a few days regarding this--if you do not please email me and I will get you information).
Erin and I have talked and have come up with 10 specific areas of prayer (in no particular ordering) in which we would like people to pray.  Some areas are time related while others will continue as long as we are in ministry.  If you would, please consider praying for us and our ministry.
  1. Location
    • We are looking at various locations in the greater Cincy area and hope to decide by the end of the summer.
  2. Gospel-Faithfulness
    • Evangelistic passion/boldness
    • Grace-filled teaching
  3. Spiritual Life
    • Passionate/Consistent prayer life
    • Developing intimacy with the Lord
    • Daily growth in my trust/walk with God
  4. Marriage
    • That Erin and I would communicate well
    • That we would pray together consistently
    • That we would have fun together (good dates)
  5. Parenting
    • That we would love our kids well
    • That we would model the outworking of Gospel truth
    • For the kids to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Savior
  6. Support
    • We are at about 87% of our goal financially (for the first year) and we continue to need people to join with us
    • For strong prayer support
  7. Internship at North Cincy
    • That I would learn a great deal.  (I am privileged to be working with folks and in a network where there is a lot of experience and grace)
    • Mentoring process
    • That I would be refreshed and recharged for the church plant
  8. Good friendships to be developed
    • Being in a new place we long for good friendships
  9. Hearts prepared for the new church
    • For people to go with us and latch on to our vision
    • For people to be prepared to hear the Gospel
  10. Specific and clear biblical vision for the church
    • What will our emphases be?  What will the worship service look like?  Who lives in the area we will go to?
    • Working out philosophy of ministry (small groups, worship, outreach/mercy, etc...)
    • That God's vision for His Kingdom would drive us
